Wedding thank you cards and postcards

Wedding thank you cards are the final touch for your wedding day. They can be hard to write, but your guests will appreciate the time you spend on writing to them.

Wedding Thank you card Wording

A handwritten thank you message will mean all the difference to your guests, showing that you have taken the time out to personally thank them.

  • Write down the gift and name of the person who gave it to you, as it personalises the thank you card.
  • A wishing well wedding - tell your guests where you have spent the money
  • Honeymoon Fund – Write it upon returning from your holiday and tell your guests how you spent the money while away!
  • Don’t leave it to long to write the cards, do it while everything is still fresh in your memory
Keep your wedding guest list and addresses, this will save you a lot of time looking them up again!

The main points to remember for your wedding thank you message are:

  • Thank your guests for their gifts or money for your honeymoon/wishing well
  • Thank your guests for being a part of your special day
  • If you receive gifts from guests that could not attend, thank them for the gift and express your disappointment that they couldn’t share in your wedding day

When do I send my thank you cards for my wedding?

It is acceptable to send your thank you cards for your wedding when you return from your honeymoon, however they should be sent no later than 3 months after your wedding date. As it is common practise to send thank you cards, your guests will be waiting - and if they don’t receive it they will be starting to wonder if you didn’t like their gift!

Who do I send them to?

Your wedding thank you cards should be sent to your guests and to anyone that has contributed to your wedding day – such as your celebrant and reception venue.

What type of wedding thank you card should I send?

Postcards are becoming a very popular and easy way to send your thank you cards. However you may want to go with the more traditional card and envelope. Either way is OK. There are no rules, except to make sure you send them!

Your thank you cards are the final touch to your wedding day. The theme from your wedding should be carried through. Use the same design as your invitations for a beautiful momento for your guests.
